Published writings So far, this section only includes work from my academic days. I don't mind -- I'm still proud of what I accomplished with these pieces. "Eating the Exotic: The Growing Acceptability of Chinese Cuisine in San Francisco, 1848-1915." This was my undergrad senior thesis, and I've gotten an unbelievable amount of mileage out of it. Most recently, Jennifer 8 Lee used it while writing her delightful book, The Fortune Cookie Chronicles! "Asians and Asian Americans in the West." This was a chapter I contributed to a high school/college-level textbook, Making of the American West: People and Perspectives. I wrote this in my first year of graduate school. |

Other In summer 2010 I attended a weeklong writing residency with M. Evelina Galang at VONA, a program for writers of color. This experience re-committed me to writing on a much deeper level. Some of my fellow VONA writers and I have begun a writing group, and I am writing daily on a number of projects. I'm also endeavoring to become more active in the Bay Area writers' community. I have some novel-length projects in the works, but for right now I'm focusing on just making my writing as good as it can get. |
